Among Trump’s lies during the recent SOTU address, he stated that “we enacted the biggest tax cuts and reforms in American history.” Actually, there have been larger cuts, as a percentage of GDP. He bragged that new tax law gives “tremendous relief for the middle class.” The middle class gets an average tax cut of $930 in 2018 (increasing their taxes), but the top level gets a little more than 65% of the tax cut benefits.  Remember, the middle and lower level benefits expire in 2026, while the wealthy and corporations have no expiration dates on their cuts.   Trump said cutting the corporate tax rate will “increase average family income by more than $4,000.” This is hyperbole. A long-term false estimate from WH economic advisers based on questionable assumptions and ‘trickle-down’ theories.
