Education is the key to civility

Republicans have been in a “war” against public education for many decades; invariably against funding to support America’s most vital institution(s).
Techniques are to oppose state and Federal  initiatives to decrease taxes spent to support public schooling in states under their control; encourage charter schools owned by wealthy, private Republican donors; supporting anti-education individuals to “run” the State and Federal systems (DeVoss?); allow absurd tuition increases; closing schools in desperately needed areas; cutting educators’ salaries; lacking raises, pensions,  maintenance, supply, extracurricular activities, new books and supportive materials; and, much more.
They profess their “support” of education; even falsely claiming to be the “party of education.”
This includes K-12, H.S. and College/University levels.
Schoolbooks, such as those produced primarily by the Texas Republican State Board of Education, deny mention of significant historical people, events and proven science (all genres). They excluded: Thomas Jefferson (10 years); George Wallace; school segregation; FDR’s minimum wage legislation; the New Deal, just a few. The Civil War may not be given more than a page with no mention of slavery.
Jacqueline Jones, chairwoman of the University of Texas' History Department for history books for ten years, said, "the minimum wage remains one of the New Deal's most controversial legacies,” and, "We do our students a disservice when we scrub history clean of unpleasant truths, and when we present an inaccurate view of the past that promotes a simple-minded, ideologically driven point of view.” Republicans promote an extreme, ideologically driven point of view.
The Board went overboard in the book, in its premise and idolatry over Ronald Reagan, giving him more coverage than any other; Billy Graham is revered. Moses influenced the writing of the Constitution.
Hillary Clinton, Sandra Day O’Connor, Andrew Carnegie, Thurgood Marshall and Helen Keller, among others, are eliminated from the books this year. Jihad was described as Muslims attempting to be better people.
Evolution was eliminated; only creationism should be taught.
These are but a small example of what the extremists on the right believe and propose for all Americans, black, white or any color in-between — no more freedom of religion or choice. Believe as fundamentalists believe or else your rights, and those of your children to have an excellent, well-rounded education, will be taken away by the political censors of the New Republican-Trump Party.
In Arizona, the reincarnation of Sen. Joseph McCarthy is Nazi Fascist. Mark Finchem. No need to go over reasons, because everything he has ever proposed is utter nonsense to anyone who can think with an open mind. Those that can’t probably don’t read the paper, or anything, anyway. Their knowledge comes from Fox-TV, the only station they watch. Even Fox is beginning to learn what Trump is about and has several celebrities who have given up on the vindictive Grifter-in-Chief.
Education is the enemy of Republican politics. In every Republican-run state, and Federally, the efforts to uncut education has been prevalent for decades. Why?
Enlightened people learn to research, reason, analyze, rationalize, use their powers of mind, study, charity, Faith, hope, positivity; they learn kindness, humility, equality and humanity. They learn to compromise, speak, communication, tell the truth and confidence.
Education is vital for stability, knowing right from wrong, development of wealth (not daddy’s money), character, independence and most of all, self-preservation.

Republicans want to keep people under their control in their 35 percent base. If people are educated and cultivated, they will learn to think and then understand the Republican motivation and drive to reduce the number of educated citizens.

WITCH HUNTERS

READ THIS !! Then tell me Republicans are not on a WITCH HUNT to find something against Hillary Clinton. Since 1996, they have been after her with one thing tha t fizzles out, then another. In 1996, some pundits were tossing around the idea that she had her eye on the White House. Fearful Republicans began a 20 year odyssey to discredit her one way or another., Never, NEVER before in history has any one person in this country been subjected to the scrutiny and interrogative techniques against her as has Hillary. Republicans have convinced the public (thank God, just the week-minded), that with this many charges, surely something must be wrong. NEVER found guilty, but often charged. She has actually proven herself to be capable of the job of President, as she plods on, optimistic, as a president must. On the other hand, look how Donald Trump miss-handles the press. Does anyone believe he could handle a press conference as a mature adult.  President Obama gave a heart-rendering sp

What does he stand for?

Supporters of the Fraud-in-Chief say they “believe in what Trump stands for;” a great cliche. Can any of them tell us exactly what he stands for? Ask one hundred Trumpeteers and you will receive ninety-one different views and nine “dohs.” Take the most current issues, opioids and the wall. Only, now, the wall is not a wall -“I never said wall.” It’s now “steel slats”. He said to Jeb Bush during the debates, when Bush pointed out it was fencing, "It's not a fence, Jeb, it's a WALL, and there's a BIG difference!" December 31, he tweeted, "An all concrete Wall was NEVER ABANDONED.” Which system is it that he stands for? These comments came from his own mouth, on camera. Sixty-thousand illegals were not apprehended at the Southern border last year. And most drugs come through ports of entry, not across the border, despite Trump’s false statements. The opioid crisis is a problem of doctors overwriting prescriptions, not border entries.  This pres
Many years ago, during the early years of the Obama administration, I saw a “debate” on abortion. This debate, allowed non-approved open questions from the audience. They were so wrapped up in this argument, even the Republicans were snickering. The Republican candidate was, of course, Pro-Birth. R: “I am all for women’s rights. Completely support equal rights for women.” The Democrat, had to ask,” Does that include her right to choose to terminate her pregnancy within the law?” R: “I believe abortion is a form of terrorism. It’s against babies, families and the growth of this country. If every woman aborted their child, where would our future generations come from?” After trying to hold back a laugh, the D: “ Are you saying that we need to stop abortion or the population will disappear? “ R: “I believe that, yes.” D: And do you believe Government should tell women what they can and cannot do with their own bodies.” R: “You
