Donald Trump addresses the Parkland shooting in a speech written for him by someone else, so he had to read slowly, and never mentioned guns as the problem. Rather, he passed it on as another mental health issue, promising to "tackle the difficult issue of mental health.”
Mental health may be the cause of most shootings, but the ease of attaining an assault weapon provides the solution to act out on that emotional break. If someone has a mental problem, a break down of reality, and cannot find a means to fulfill their rage, it will dissipate or be greatly reduced. After such an episode, that violent person may feel upset, confused, remorseful, regretful, or embarrassed about their aggressive behavior.
Lashing out in violent ways has recently been found to be nearly twice as common as previously thought. Experts have been trying to find “cures” and “remedies,” for dealing with these mental disorders. There are more than one.
Until they do, however, we must reduce their access to weapons.
