KEEP RELIGION PRIVATE, BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR GOD, IF YOU HAVE ONE. If not, that’s your business, not mine. You do not need to pray in a building adorned in gold while you worry about food at home. You do not need others to tell you to make personal sacrifices for the preservation of a religion. You can pray while driving, or bathing, eating or sitting in a park. YOU ARE THE TEMPLE. There is nothing that organized religion can give you but words. The feelings, beliefs and emotion of being next to God, come from you, in a movie theatre, a library, a bus, or a church or temple.
Many people go to a Church or Synagogue for reasons other than religious piety. Of course, there is a sense of camaraderie, a sense of unity. They like the feeling of community. They are supported in their beliefs by the fact that others seem to have the same beliefs, But, prayer is considered a personal thing, between you and God. We all have different things for which we pray. Reciting, by rote or reading prayers we truly do not understand is not God's intent. And the more the world’s population grows the busier He gets.
Many people do not believe this, but all who pray, pray to the same GOD. Some pray to Jesus, some don't. Muslims pray to God, whom they call ALLAH. Some to El, Elohim, Elha, Om, Gayatri, YWHW, Jehovah, The Light, Adonai, Abba, Shangdi, Shen, Tasawwuf, Hu, Parvardigar and many more. But, there is only ONE GOD.
God's own teaching tells us NO person has a right to tell you what you can do with the Temple that is your body. YOU are the Temple and the Direct Connection with and to your God. The God. In 2016, ONE can be religious, devout and moral without the judgement of others.
iF YOU ARE RELIGIOUS, even though God ordered the HEBREWS to build The Temple in order that He may be closer to His people GOD SAID, "EVERY MAN IS A TEMPLE UNTO HIMSELF. YOU DO NOT NEED A ROOF OR TENT OVER YOUR HEAD. YOU ARE THE TEMPLE OF GOD.” Jews are requested (required) to place a Mezuzah on the front door post of their homes and wear a mezuzah around their necks in order that their Temple is always with them, wherever they may be. The orthodox are told to wear a yarmulke to represent the roof of the temple and in reverence to God. But, again, the Temple is within you.
Organized religion has created more harm and death than all other excuses in the history of mankind.
Corinthians 9 "....Ye are God's building.
Romans 12:1-8; 1 Corinthians 6:18-20)
16 Know Ye not that Ye are the Temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the Temple of God is holy, which Temple Ye are.
18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
another version....
John 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
We are all individuals. We all have our own beliefs, desires, goals and sense of purpose. While we may share some of our ideals with others, we achieve the differently. We are not one community, but MEMBERS of a community. I do not have to believe or think as my neighbor does.
We can share common interests, even God, but the way I do it may be different. And that’s okay. God wants us to be individuals, with our own thoughts and dreams. He gave us FREE THOUGHT. The ability to make our own decisions. The ability to reason. To create. To build. To believe. To pray.
