Many years ago, during the early years of the Obama administration, I saw a “debate” on abortion. This debate, allowed non-approved open questions from the audience. They were so wrapped up in this argument, even the Republicans were snickering. The Republican candidate was, of course, Pro-Birth.

R: “I am all for women’s rights. Completely support equal rights for women.”

The Democrat, had to ask,” Does that include her right to choose to terminate her pregnancy within the law?”

R: “I believe abortion is a form of terrorism. It’s against babies, families and the growth of this country. If every woman aborted their child, where would our future generations come from?”

After trying to hold back a laugh, the D: “ Are you saying that we need to stop abortion or the population will disappear? “

R: “I believe that, yes.”

D: And do you believe Government should tell women what they can and cannot do with their own bodies.”

R: “You said that sir, I did not. No I do not believe that.”

D: “By denying a woman to choose, isn’t that telling her what she can and cannot do with her body?”

R: “NO. That is different. This is a terrorist act against the United States.”

D: “So, if this is terrorism, you feel she should be arrested and sent to Guantanamo”

R: “Well….uh…you know that’s a false…. of course…the…-”

D: (interrupts) “- Can you please responds sir? Guantanamo?”

R: “Of course not.”

D: “So, what should a woman do?”

R: “She should be placed in a home until the baby is delivered.”

D: “Then what, sir? Put up for adoption. Inducted in military birth homes to breed future soldiers? What?”

R: “Yes, the baby should be put up for adoption.”

D: “Sir, do you know how many children are awaiting adoption today ?”

R: “ Uh…I am not, unfortunately.”

D: “This year, just in the U.S. 397,122 children are living without permanent families in the foster care system. 101,666 of these children are eligible for adoption, but nearly 32% of these children will wait over three years in foster care before being adopted. Who will pay for this? Who will pay for the term of pregnancy? Who will pay for medical problems? Who will pay for the birth? Who will pay for the mother’s care? Who will pay for the child’s education, clothes, food?”

R: “ The Federal Government allows generous subsidies for these children.”

D: “Really? Let me ask you, what if the baby is a product of rape?” Todd Akin said, "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down." Do you believe that?”

R: “No.”

D: “Rep. Jody Laubenberg in Texas said rape victims don't need access to legal abortion, because they can just use "what's called rape kits, where a woman can get cleaned out." Obviously, this is not how rape kits work. Do you believe that?”

R: “I’m not familiar with rape kits. But, if she’s legitimately raped, why not have the baby anyway and give it up?”

D: “Are you a religious man? If so, how devout are you?”

R: “That’s none of your business. Why do you ask?”

D: “I’m trying to determine if, perhaps, religion has anything to do with your beliefs. I don’t need to know your religion. Just your viewpoint.”

R: “It’s difficult to separate your political beliefs from your religious beliefs, but I believe, as God is my witness, I believe I can separate the two.”

D: “Then let me ask you, do you believe abortion is much more serious than the rape of children by priests.”

R: “Sir, how am I to answer that? Come on, now.”

D: “Truthfully?”

Education is the key to civility

Republicans have been in a “war” against public education for many decades; invariably against funding to support America’s most vital institution(s).  Techniques are to oppose state and Federal  initiatives to decrease taxes spent to support public schooling in states under their control; encourage charter schools owned by wealthy, private Republican donors; supporting anti-education individuals to “run” the State and Federal systems (DeVoss?); allow absurd tuition increases; closing schools in desperately needed areas; cutting educators’ salaries; lacking raises, pensions,  maintenance, supply, extracurricular activities, new books and supportive materials; and, much more. They profess their “support” of education; even falsely claiming to be the “party of education.” This includes K-12, H.S. and College/University levels.  Schoolbooks, such as those produced primarily by the Texas Republican State Board of Education, deny mention of significant historic...
I still have some people - not many - who support trump, as it turns out. Even those of my persuasion. They think trump is good for the U.S. because he supports Israel. I agree, that's great. And, despite what trump created with Obama's being a Muslim, born in Kenya, even Obama was supportive of Israel. Netanyahu was rude to Obama, even during the campaign which people forget about, and still, Obama was kind a respectful.  AGAIN, I say, trump's decision to back out of the Iranian deal would allow Iran to return to their Nuclear dreams, which is NOT good for Israel or the U.S. They would firstTHREATEN Israel often and Blackmail the U.S. That is common sense when you take time to think about it.

Trump is now somehow a religious idol

Some religious fanatics have officially gone bonkers. The far right have been pushing a meme for several years now that the amoral creature, conman, egomaniac, and bad person in the WH “has been sent by God to be ‘a vessel for the purposes of the faithful’ in the role of King of the United States of America,” according to Katherine Stewart.  A firefighter picks up a Bible in a moment of revelation and automatically turns to Isaiah 45. Agent Orange is also number 45. Coincidence? I think so. This disclosure is because Cyrus in Isaiah 45, is “saved” and becomes Emperor of Babylon, freeing the Jews. These Christian Nationalists, no relation to the saner version of ages past, believe the adulterer, misogynist, oaf in the White House, who is encouraging them, will save humanity.  Tony Perkins, Ralph Drollinger and V.P Mike Pence support it, as well. Deport them.
